Charles runs the From The Depths label, has hosted a regular show on NTS Radio since it's inception and runs the Principals club night alongside Nic Tasker and Bradley Zero.
Since being introduced for the first time to his FTD imprint back in late 2014, it didn’t take long to understand Charles Drakeford’s new endeavour was meant to last over time. First off, the choice of taking Lutto Lento’s material to vinyl for the first time was definitely a prime motivation, granting a wider audience to access one of today’s most daring and enthralling bodies of work, subsequently opening a breach for lesser-known artists to dive into just as successfully.
The following releases confirmed the label’s first-rate curation with a string of quality releases from Niagara, Elzéard & Moana, Gramrcy, DJML – supplemented by some unique, eye-catching sleeve designs to please the eyes and ears in equal measure. The label’s new instalment, Georgia’s high-in-vitamin ‘Import Fruit‘ just hit the shelves.
Featuring members of Standard Planets, NTS Radio, 20JFG, Blue Tapes & X-Ray Records and Mirage, DJ collective Riviera Breeze bring you a free listening party designed to soothe and expand those heads fried by the weekend’s exploits. Going 1-8pm and possibly beyond, an inter-changeable roster of DJ’s HP Sorcery, D McNamee, Matthew Balaam and Secret Son will be your inter-dimensional tour guides through a blissed-out journey of hazey disco, transcendental new age, a lighter shade of Italo, waves of Balearic & sun-drenched kosmische, and all brought to you from Brighton seafront. Drift over on Sunday October 30th to The Hope & Ruin, find a nook and settle-in.
Standard Planets have spent the last couple of years collaborating and releasing records with avant disco legends Arthur’s Landing (Arthur Russell, Dinosaur L/Loose Joints), Ash Ra Tempel’s Harald Grosskopf (Manuel Gottsching, Klaus Schulze, Cosmic Jokers), italo titans BWH/Blackway (House Of Music) and writer Iain Sinclair (Penguin), having gained press from the likes of The Guardian, Q Magazine, FACT, The Quietus and Red Bull Music Academy for each release.
Mirage is a monthly Italo and Hi-NRG club night, and radio show, that keeps the Green Door Store at capacity from start to finish, with queues round the block every time. Matteo and HP are branching out, and will be bringing an altogether more relaxed side of their collections to Riviera Breeze and The Hope.
