French Boutik + The Rising + Idle Talk

Friday December 8th

French Boutik
The Parisian stylists played a blinding show for us at The Water Rats in London in the summer, and now they come to entertain the great people of Brighton! It’s their first show in the seaside city for over four years.

The “pop moderniste” sounds displayed on their debut album ‘Front Pop’ has received great praise and reviews:
“Their ‘60s-drenched power pop is more than just a bit infectious” - Louder Than War
"With neat cinematic touches, a variety of moods, a couple of languages and an air of sophisticated savvy, French Boutik have plenty to offer" - Shindig!
“There is a joy de view to their playing that makes any possible language barrier irrelevant. The sound and feel is so infectious" - Rock At Night
“If you want to sound ultra-cool and sound like you’re a ‘finger-on-the-pulse’ type on the scene, French Boutik are one of a handful of bands to mention among your peers...There have been some great releases this year and a few still to come, but ‘Front Pop’ will take some beating for album of the year” - New Untouchables

The Rising
The Rising are a seven-piece mod/psychedelic rock’n’roll band from Southampton. They signed to Detour Records in late 2013 and released their debut album in March 2014.

The band are currently in the studio recording the follow up album. The new album will be a blend of vintage analogue and modern digital recordings from acclaimed London analogue studio Toe Rag and the world famous Rockfield Studios in Monmouth, Wales. The band see it as opportunity to experiment with new sounds and influences - which is now mainly possible due to the arrival of Neville Staples (The Specials) tour keyboard/Hammond player Liam Dixon and new female backing vocalist Emily Blackledge.

“The Rising are fronted by Tommy Overington. He′s a star, and he means it! Great tunes and a great band” Alan McGee

Idle Talk
Idle Talk are a four piece band from Brighton playing dynamic, original songs. Formed in early 2015, the band have been complimented for their tight performance, accomplished songwriting and their dedication to the live energy and spirit of the mod scene which influenced them. Taking elements of indie, soul and psychedelia, their music applies a relatable modern commentary on the everyday frustrations of life.

Within their first few months together, the band were invited to support iconic mod legends From the Jam (Sound Affects 35th Anniversary Tour) and Secret Affair (My World Tour 2015) which saw them playing to a sold-out home crowd at Brighton’s Concorde 2 across both dates. With the band having now signed to Detour records, their debut release for the label is a 4-track EP called "Reaction". Recording for the EP was completed at Brighton Road Studios with the help of Ali Gavan and mixed by Andy Crofts (the Moons/Paul Weller band).
