John + Ditz + Frauds (SOLD OUT)

Hotwax + Love Thy Neighbour presents JOHN

Following the release of acclaimed debut 'God Speed In The National Limit' in 2017, Crystal Palace based two-piece JOHN (both members aptly sharing the name) have continued to gather a reputation for their unique live performances. This was never more evident than on 2018's European tour supporting Bristol heavyweights IDLES.

Following swiftly in 2018’s footsteps, the somewhat cryptically named duo have recently recorded a live session for influential Seattle-based radio station KEXP. A moment that cemented their reputation as their unique live force, demonstrating a mechanical solidity rare for only two bodies.

Focusing on the difficult negotiation of an imagined view of the future, album opener 'Future Thinker' sets an uncompromising tone for the forthcoming record - a collection of songs that abstract the quotidian encounters on the fringes of a city. With new material slated for release this year, JOHN return to Bear Bites Horse Studio, East London with producer Wayne Adams back at the helm.

"In this post-truth world where alternative facts get squeezed out via the distorted prism of social media, the simplicity of a band like JOHN makes for a refreshing tonic" - Loud and Quiet

After growing notoriety for an erratic live show influenced by the hardcore punk and noise rock of the 80/90s, which sets them apart from their peers in the UK post-punk scene. The music the band produces is often obnoxious and urgent, but with an acute sense of dynamic. Vast arrays of overpowering noise and fluctuating distortion infuse the punk sound with a more experimental approach, which reaches its freeform apex at the end of their set.

"Frauds trade fat chunky riffs with driving propulsive beats alongside shared maniacal vocals shot through with a strain of acerbic wit that calls to mind sadly defunct sasscore quartet Falls. Their between-song patter is extraordinarily engaging, sometimes reaching Monty Python-esque levels of sheer lunacy, but to dismiss the Croydon-based post-hardcore power duo as a mere comedy act would be superficial." - The Independent
