Pom Poko create music that’s noisy, fun, and more than just a little bizarre.
Pom Poko are Ragnhild (lead vocals), Ola (Drums), Jonas (Bass) and Martin (Guitar). The four met whilst all studying at the Trondheim Music Conservatory in Norway and quickly garnered interest from a wider audience as they began playing and writing together -their style having already drawn comparisons to Le Tigre, Deerhoof and Duchess Says.
Described as “Pure Norwegian Punky Sweetness”, the band’s new single ‘Crazy Energy Night’ encapsulates the band’s high octane energy, heard throughout their raucous debut album ‘Birthday’, released on Bella Union.
Their recent release follows in the footsteps of their previous two singles, ‘Follow The Lights’ and ‘My Blood’, with both tracks having picked up extensive radio play around the world (notably from triple j in Australia and BBC 6 Music).
“There's more to Orchards than meets the eye.
The band's whip-smart math-pop is all glistening surface and immediate melody, but beneath this chrome-plated chassis lies a complex rhythmic engine.” - CLASH Magazine
