The Hope & Ruin welcomes deaf and disabled customers to the venue although as a very old building we do have limitations for wheelchairs users. For all access enquiries please contact Sally via email here access@hope.pub please allow 72 hours for a response.

The VENUE is only accessible via a flight of stairs so is not suitable for wheelchair access. If you have limited mobility and can get around with a mobility aid, we have handrails on the stairs up to the venue. We can also provide a chair or bring your wheelchair up into the venue for you if it’s not too heavy. We also have space to store a wheelchair however you will need to contact us in advance to arrange this. In the venue there is a fully accessible toilet.

We offer a Personal Assistant ticket to any customer who may not be able to attend a show without the support of a PA and has already purchased their own valid ticket. If you require a PA ticket, please give us an email to discuss your requirements. We will then confirm this ticket via email. You will be asked to provide evidence for the PA ticket to be issued in the form of a scan of a PIP/DLA letter, a blue badge, access card etc alongside proof of a valid ticket for the show in question. Many of the promoters we work with offer PA tickets too. We also work with Gig Buddies to offer tickets directly to Buddies. If in any doubt about how to obtain a PA ticket please email access@hope.pub and someone will be in touch.

We don’t have a set viewing platform or area.
We can provide chairs in the venue although if the event is very busy this will impede visibility. If you wish to make use of a chair to view a gig, we advise arriving early to secure a position.

There is no customer parking available at The Hope & Ruin. The nearest disabled car parking space is on Church Street which is opposite the venue.

Taxis can drop off outside the venue. We recommend Streamline taxis – 01273 202020
There is a pay and display carpark 5 minutes away from the venue.
There is pay and display on street parking on all the streets nearby some of which is free after 8pm. It is a busy part of town so spaces are at a premium.
Bus stops are on North Street which is about 5 minutes away OR Churchill Square which is about 10 minutes away. The route to the venue is step free and fairly clear for wheelchair users.
Brighton train station is a 10 minute walk and although has a number of crossings is step free and fairly clear for wheelchair users.

The Hope & Ruin is open from 12pm, and the gig room tends to open from 7:30pm as standard, door time is usually printed on the ticket.
If you require early entrance into the venue as part of your access requirements, we can make these arrangements but must be informed prior to the date of the event.

At The Hope & Ruin we have one accessible toilet in the venue and one ambulant toilet in the bar area that is accessible via 2 steps. The ambulant toilet has radar key access. Please ask at bar if you do not hold a key.

The Hope & Ruin welcomes customers who may need to bring medication, food, drink or medical equipment to manage a medical condition. We may be able to keep medication refrigerated for you, so just let us know in advance and we will do our best to accommodate.

We welcome assistance dogs into the venue and will happily provide a bowl of water if needed. However, not all events are suitable so please contact us before hand. Please get in touch to discuss this further.

We regularly use flashing lighting. If this affects you in any way then please let us know in advance and we will do what we can to avoid this. Occasionally a band will bring their own lighting with them which may contain strobe lighting. In the event this happens, signs will be displayed on the evening. Please get in touch if you have any concerns.

We do not have any lowered bars at the moment, but our staff are willing to help in any way they can.

If you need to contact us with a venue access query please note we must have at least five working days notice before the show you are enquiring about. All access related enquiries are dealt with via the email below, unfortunately we can not make any access arrangements over the phone.
